Aug 2-3 Weekend – “Big Faith For Big Problems” – Lutheran Worship Services

I (Pastor Tom) am just returning to working on-site at Immanuel after a couple weeks of “staycation.” I’ve noticed that some big stuff is happening in the world lately. Since I left:

  • Israel invaded Gaza, and more than 1,000 people have died.
  • A Malaysian Airlines plane with nearly 300 people aboard was shot down by a Russian weapon over Ukraine.
  • Another plane crashed over Mali during a storm with 118 people aboard.
  • The border-immigration crisis continues… 57,000 Central American children having entered the USA in the past nine months.
  • Ebola virus continues to spread.  672 people in four West African countries have died since the outbreak began earlier this year, including the Samaritan’s Purse Doctor who had been serving as the medical director leading the fight against the virus.
  • The list goes on and on . . . there are so many Big Problems.

My “staycation” was designed to clear-up some of the challenges I’m having in my life – but some big problems remain. How do you deal with Big Problems? Let’s talk about it.
