Good news today is God is not insensitive when tragedy strikes. Good news is Jesus is not paralyzed when people are hurt, grieving and in shock. Good news is Jesus does not prescribe chemicals or drugs to deal with grief. As the Bible says “His heart overflowed with compassion.” Jesus’ heart broke for the weeping widow in today’s reading. He took the time to be with this sobbing widow whose hope for life, for happiness, for stability, is all stored up in her one son who is now gone. Today learn how Jesus helps us deal with grief.
