Mar 21-22 Weekend Worship Services – “Receive Forgiveness”
Welcome to Week Five in The Parables of Lent series of services, which is based on the parable of the Prodigal Son In this parable, a wayward son returns to the forgiving embrace of his father, who welcomes him home. The service helps us to remember that we who have strayed can return again and again to the embrace of our Father, through the sacrifice of his Son.

Feb 14-15 Weekend Worship Services “Urgent Care”
Sometimes, the greatest faith is not the mountain moving kind of faith at all. Sometimes, the greatest test of faith comes when you speak to the mountain and it doesn’t move. That is when God may speak to you and say, “I’m not going to move this mountain, but I will give you the strength to climb it.”
You already know “Every Mountain has a Valley.” But how do you get back to the mountaintop? Join me, Pastor Tom, and let’s talk about it.
In fact, it is a busy weekend at Immanuel with Transfiguration Sunday, a time for you to renew you Marriage Vows, Valentine’s Day, Back Pew Talks, and we look forward to the Burning of the Palms next Tuesday! Wow, that’s a mountaintop experience by itself.

Jan 7-Feb 8 Weekend Worship Services “Urgent Care”
Jesus’ first day of public ministry is a busy one. Given the endless series of things to which Jesus attends, we sometimes imagine that He is too busy for us and our problems. Yet Jesus knows and cares for each of us individually. He actually commands us to lay all of our needs before Him and stands ever willing and able to help us. Join Pastor Warren this Weekend!

Jan 31-Feb 1 Weekend Worship Services “Your Eyes, God’s Eyes”
Our Lutheran Schools Week emphasis this year is that we also are to be!!! Jesus’ servants. Because Jesus served us with His life, we are given the joy of serving Him by serving others.
Jesus sees things differently in his kingdom. He sees service, helping others, and sacrifice rather than power, might, and glory. Jesus sees his kingdom as one of the cross, not glory, but servanthood. Jesus sees his kingdom through God’s eyes and those eyes see people in God’s kingdom helping, sacrificing, and serving others. What do your eyes see? Let’s talk about it this weekend at Immanuel … “Your Eyes, God’s Eyes.” Listen-in or Watch below!

Jan 17-18 Weekend Worship Services
Some people claim that God speaks directly to them. Others wish they could say this, but can’t. Many wonder if what they perceive as God speaking to them is actually Him or their own desire or imagination. Phillip heard Jesus say “Follow Me”, and he did. That’s seems easy when you can actually see Jesus. Samuel heard God calling him, but thought it was Eli calling for him. Eli helped Samuel to respond in the right way to hear God’s voice, and told him to say “Speak Lord, your servant is listening.” Are you listening?

Jan 10-11 Weekend Worship Services “The Cast Of Characters”
No matter what has happened or what will happen, you will never lose your value. Dirty or clean, crumpled or finely creased, you are still priceless to those who DO love you. The worth of our lives comes not in what we do or who we know, but by WHO WE ARE.

Jan 3-4 Weekend Worship Services “Are You Amazed?”
Do Bible Stories amaze you anymore? Did they ever amaze you? Perhaps familiarity with the stories made them to be like old game show reruns. The outcomes happened a long time ago and simply do not impress us any longer.
Pastor Tom has a few thoughts to share with you, this weekend at Immanuel. Let’s get the New Year off to a good start.

Dec 27-28 Weekend Worship Services “Quietly Changed By Jesus”
People magazine published its first issue on March 4, 1974. In 2009, it had a readership of 43.6 million adults, the highest of any American magazine,1 and it continues to be very popular today. The magazine has survived and thrived for 40 years because Americans love celebrities. We want to know all about people who make the news, from movie stars to sports legends to the person next door who has done amazing things.

For every celebrity, of course, there are thousands of people with wonderful talents, amazing lives and great gifts to share whom most of us seldom notice. They are the people who get things done and whom we count on every day to keep life moving. They are teachers, nurses, firefighters and police officers, garbage collectors, doctors, parking valets, waiters and waitresses, stockbrokers, bankers, pastors and priests, moms and dads and so many more.
Our scripture today lifts up several people who had little in the way of “celebrity status” but who had a role in Jesus’ story. Their connection with Jesus and their service to him quietly changed their lives. We can learn much from them.

Dec 20-21 Weekend Worship Services “Ready For Christmas?”
What do you still need to do to be ready for Christmas? I don’t mean to stress you out, but it’s only a few days away. So I hope you’ve thought about that a bit.
Maybe you need to clean the house or make some lists and make sure that you’ll have everything for Christmas dinner. How about gifts — buying them, of course, and wrapping them? If they’re for people who live at a distance, you’ll now need express delivery if you want to be sure they arrive before the 25th. And, of course, there are decorations to take care of, and a lot of other things.
But since this is a sermon, you may have realized that I’m not really asking about all of those things. What are you doing — what do you need to do — to be ready to celebrate the birth of Jesus? Or to put it another way, what do you need to do in order to receive God’s Christmas gift to you in the right way? What we need to think about is the meaning of Jesus’ birth for us today. Otherwise, we’re just celebrating a historical event like we do on Washington’s birthday. Whether it’s making your house ready or making your heart ready, remember what the angel Gabriel said, “For nothing will be impossible with God.” So ready or not, see you on Sunday!

Dec 13-14 Weekend Worship “The Voice”
The popular talent show called “The Voice” is designed to raise-up budding singers to become the next musical artist that will rise to fame on the music charts. These artists are given trainers who provide them with the needed refinement needed to elevate them to superstar status. They are adorned with clothes that ooze success, and their voice reaches incredible heights in volume and pitch that draw in the audience so much that they are completely locked into what they are singing. Cheers, clapping, and standing ovations often follow after each contestant has proclaimed their message through song. At this point, many in the audience would do anything to hear more from their favorite Voice. After the performance, three judges offer their complimentary opinion and any criticisms are designed to help them reach even higher levels.
Not so with “The Voice” that we hear about in this week’s gospel lesson. John the Baptist is “The Voice” that we will hear this week. While he was also destined for greatness even before he was born, John the Baptist certainly didn’t have an outfit that cried out success, and most certainly didn’t have an adoring crowd chanting his name and giving him standing ovations along the Jordan River. However, people where interested in who he was, but unlike the talent show, they weren’t interested in giving him encouragement. The message of “The Voice” called upon people to change their behavior and change their minds in order to get ready for the true Rising Star. People don’t like to change. People don’t like to be told to change either. But the change that “The Voice” is crying out in the wilderness, is just as important for us, as it was for those who came out to see him on his stage. Checkout “The Voice” this weekend at Immanuel. Maybe you’ll find yourself wanting to hear more

Nov 22-23 Weekend Worship “Too Little, Too Late”
Sheep and goats are often seen together in the same field. Farmers and ranchers usually allow them to graze and roam the same ground. As long as anyone can remember, the animals have been together. It is pointless for the owners to place them in different fields. Sheep and goats are free to wander and mingle. They do not fight, envy, or avoid one another. Yet Jesus says he will return to separate the sheep from the goats. What is going on? What does he mean? Liten-In or Watch, as Pastor Tom talks about “Too Little, Too Late.”

Bethlehem’s Child Cantata – We hope and pray that you will be blessed by “Bethlehem’s Child” Cantata, featuring the Immanuel Choirs, Bells, and live orchestra. Child Of Promise: Branches (10:45) – He was a scrawny seedling. There was nothing attractive about him. He was looked down on and passed over. He was a man who knew pain firsthand. One look at him and people turned away. We looked down on him, thought he was scum. But the fact is, it was our pains he carried. We thought he brought it on himself, that God was punishing him for his own failures. But we did that to him. We’ve all done our own thing, gone our own way. Pastor Tom finishes the story and more…
