Last words are often lasting words. Jesus last words to his disciples were, “But you will
receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in
Jerusalem, and in all of Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” (Acts 1:8). Jesus
not only asked us to believe, but to follow him and to bear witness to the world around
us. Being a disciple is active, not passive, and the reproduction of disciples is an essential
part of that activity. We are to seek to be the hands and feet of Jesus, serving and raising
up others. Serving God means reaching out to others and becoming part of the mission
