The Baptism of Jesus begins the work of Jesus as our substitute that made us at one with the Father. When Jesus stepped into the waters of the Jordan River he began to point Jesus work directly to the cross, where he died for our sins. He stood in our place in the Jordan, and Jesus stood in our place on the Cross. The water of the Jordan and the wood of the Cross forever unites us with Jesus in His death and resurrection.
