Martin Luther understood that the Church was in need of an Extreme Makeover, but not the kind that we see on the popular TV show, where homes are transformed into dream homes. It was the practices of the church that needed a makeover. The church’s position was that salvation came only through self-justification by good words, which lined the pockets of the church coffers. Today we celebrate the Extreme Makeover that Jesus provides us through His works of suffering, dying, and rising that come to us as a gift of His grace through faith. Let’s celebrate our Extreme Makeover.
