I am told of a custom among some churches in Africa that when a person becomes a Christian they burn their old clothes and put on a new white robe to show their new life in Christ. In our New Testament reading today, Paul tells us that when we become Christians, we need to change our clothes. Our old way of living life is like filthy clothes that no longer fit and need to be taken off and burned. Then we put on new clothes that are nothing like we have ever worn before.
