May 30-31 / Special – Oh Lord, Fill us with Your Spirit! – Lutheran Worship video

Today we recall the Feast of Pentecost, fifty days after our Lord’s resurrection. In God’s wisdom, this is one of the feasts all were required to attend in Jerusalem. In this way God provided for the largest gathering from the farthest reaches where His people lived in order to discover what Pentecost was really all about. Today with the lavish outpouring of God Himself, the Holy Spirit, “the Lord and giver of life,” would proclaim the glory of salvation and eternal life through Jesus, the Son of God. So today we hear the Word of God spoken to us in our own language, that powerful, mighty Word through which the Holy Spirit creates and strengthens the gift of saving faith in us. This faith is like living water flowing through our entire being bringing the refreshment of the forgiveness of all of our sins and a new and godly purpose for the living of our days. The water Jesus gives is the true water of life.

May 23-24 / Special – Shaped and Formed – Lutheran Worship video

Our Savior Jesus Christ told us He was going to His Father. The first disciples saw Him do this, actually leaving them and us behind, ascending through the clouds. But they and we are to know His “going” is not exactly His “leaving.” For He has not left us alone as orphans. We are to know that His real presence with us is now not by sight but by faith through His Sacraments. It is His voice we hear from now on, saying, “I forgive you all your sins.” By faith we know that Holy Baptism and Holy Communion are not primarily something we do only to remember Him but the Means by which He washes us and fills us now with His righteousness. Through it all, we are formed by His cross, enduring suffering for His sake with the great and sure hope that, in the end, we will be with Him forever.

May 16-17 / Special – Help! I Need Somebody – Lutheran Worship audio

The Beatles had a great hit in the 60’s simply titled; “Help!”. It’s a snappy tune that captures your attention right away with the exclamation; “Help! I need somebody, Help! Not just anybody!…..” Each one of us, at some point in our lives has needed help. Very often, help or assistance is not something we are readily willing to ask for. Too often, we wait until all seems hopeless and lost before we cry out the words ‘Help!” Jesus knew that his disciples would need help after he accomplished the work of His death and resurrection. Jesus knew that He had to go back to the Father in Heaven, and leaving
his disciples alone without him. So he promised them he would send “another Helper, to be with you forever, even the Spirit of truth” (John 14:16–17). The Holy Spirit is wherever He creates and sustains faith through God’s Word. However, our Easter celebration will break forth before the world on the Day of Pentecost.

Jesus says the world cannot receive, see, or know the Spirit. Paul found this to be true in Athens as he noticed an altar dedicated “To the unknown god.” Though many in our day certainly have heard about Jesus, they do not know Him apart from faith in His word. But you know Him! Baptized into Christ, His resurrection life has given us new life, which for now is but the beginning to be stretched out into life eternal.

May 9-10 / Special – A Gift Received – Lutheran Worship audio

Our fifty-day celebration of Easter continues as we solemnly gather in the presence of our
crucified and risen Savior Jesus Christ. Present He is for we see and hear Him touching and speaking to us through His Spirit, in the water of Holy Baptism, in His very body and blood in Holy Communion, in His words of Holy Absolution, and in the preaching of His Word. We gather not as much to give anything to Him but to receive from Him His gifts of deliverance, salvation, and righteousness. Today, once again He bestows on you His own righteousness, making of us a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for His own possession. Our sin has been taken away, and we are renewed with eternal life by the faith created in us by His Spirit. In this faith our doubts and fears are taken away as we look forward to our heavenly home, the many rooms and mansions, the place prepared for us, as we await His final return.

May 2-3 / Special – Following Only His Voice – Lutheran Worship audio

Whose voice gets your attention? Your parents? Your boss? Your teacher? Your spouse?
There is probably someone in your life right now that you are most tuned into. Lots of
people listen to podcasts of various speakers, and they follow their advice. The speaker
has grabbed their attention and they trust what they are saying. How do you respond to
the Good Shepherd’s voice? Do you know the voice of Jesus – your Shepherd? We often
times crave to hear His voice. Sometimes we get confused if what we hear came from
our shepherd. Let’s talk about ways the Good Shepherd’s voice leads us, guides us,
protects us, and reminds us of who we are.
